Sewing and art classes

We meet three times a week for sewing and art. We love learning new things, and past projects have ranged from ceramic animals to prayer flags to henna. It all happens at our storefront headquarters, where guests are often visiting to teach or learn.

Building leaders and entrepreneurs

Many people at Welcome aspire to have their own art and craft businesses. We foster those dreams by providing mentorship in business skills, helping participants start Etsy stores, and hosting workshops facilitated by our artisans. Check the schedule to find one.

Community garden

In collaboration with Turner Farm and Camp Washington's Community Board, we broke ground on the Welcome Garden in the summer of 2017. Beans, tomatoes, potatoes, cabbage and flowers grow in the garden, which is a few blocks down from our storefront.

On the horizon: Welcome Learning Kitchen

We are in the process of opening the Welcome Learning Kitchen to share ethnic foods and cooking classes with the community. At the kitchen we host classes, sell produce from our community gardens, and stock prepared foods made by local refugees and immigrants. The kitchen will provide a community-centered and healthy option to those living in the food desert of Camp Washington. Help us open the kitchen by donating.
