Artisan Spotlight

My family is from Bhutan. We arrived in the US about 5 years ago. Before this I lived in a refugee camp in Nepal for over 20 years with my husband and had two children in the camp. When I was in the camp I used to spend my days spinning wool and weaving. This was what made the camp enjoyable. When I first arrived in the US I worked in a factory and really missed spinning and weaving. For over a year I’ve learned art, sewing and had a chance to weave again because of the Welcome Project. I’m so happy to spend my days like this instead of the factory.
