Artisan Spotlight

I was born in Bhutan and was married there. I was forced to leave Bhutan and travel to a refugee camp in Nepal. After many years I was able to leave the camp and come to the United States with my family. In Bhutan I was a farmer. In the camp I didn’t get to do anything but take care of my children. When I came to the US, I learned to sew and do art at the Welcome Project. I am always surprised that I can do art. My young son that passed away was an artist. When I do art I remember him. I’ve made many new friends and like to spend my days with my friends having fun. I love to sew by hand and make many things.
